Listener Reviews

Do ya feel lucky?
The podcast is informative, fun and insightful. If you’re a fan of 70s film you just hit the jackpot! The logo is really good as well!
Uninformative
KLUTE is my first ep. Excep for the neat comment on Klute gradually bringing light all you did is recount the story. Saying whether you liked it or not is boring--you're not Sarris or Kael so why should we care? A young person watching the movie will easily understand the use of answering machines--an extended riff is totally unnecessary. Much better would be a history of the development of the film in terms of script actor director choices; critical response then and in fullness of time; and any actually unique or insightful insights you might have. PS: a role can never in itself be an Academy award role: Fonda nailed an extremely challenging character and most if not all other actresses would have failed.
Former Navy Sailor Who Never Watched The Last Detail
Thank you for the great content and trivia that comes along with your reviews. When I saw that you did a show on The Last Detail, and as a Jack Nicholson fan who had never seen the movie before, I made sure to watch it (Free on Tubi) before watching your podcast. Keep up the great work!
Great stuff!!!
The sixties brought about great change in music and culture. All of that flowed into the 70's affecting the other great art form;story telling in the form of motion pictures. The films of the 70's brought more realism and authenticity, more relatable emotional depth. Substance was created that left you leaving the theater thinking more about the people you saw and how it might relate to you. All this brought forward through the imagination of young, unknown firebrands, actors and directors that now are household names.Chuck and his friends do more than just discuss these celluloid gems. They relate how some of these films affected them personally, how others are touchstones, landmarks of events of their lives. Insight and details of production are discussed, history of the stories that became the movie, the tricks of the trade that made these film feel all so real. The work, the time, the joy and the pain of the actors bringing these stories to life. Are Chuck and friends experts? That's subjective, though all have had movies in their lives in one form or another. They know alot. Critics? They just offer their opinions, never marginalizing a guest's negative views of a particular film. Do they love 70's film? That's the point. Some guests fondly remember those days they lived through, others want to share these "new" experiences with others. So...Hell yeah!! They love the 70's!
Just Great
I love ‘70s films. Maybe we can hear their take on more Clint Eastwood films. “Play Misty For Me” and the other two ‘70s “Dirty Harry” pictures.
The 70’s all over again.
I’m a big fan of 70’s film. This podcast hits that sweet spot. Looking forward to future episodes!
Unbridled Enthusiasm Fueled by…
Amazing knowledge of movies and culture emphasized by unbridled enthusiasm and creativity. I find myself smiling unexpectedly while listening and googling names I’ve never heard of and then saying, oh, I remember them!
Cinematic Fantastic!
I believe the best podcasts are those where the hosts clearly love the subject of the show, and Cinematic Flashback provides ample proof of that supposition. Chuck and his crew clearly love film, and are deeply knowledgeable on the topic, so you know from the start you are in for a fun listening experience. After binging four episodes today, I’m hooked!
